Overview

I helped shape two connected product initiatives within Paysafe’s digital payments ecosystem: a configurable white-label wallet platform designed to serve different partner brands, and PagoEfectivo — a consumer wallet experience for the Peruvian market built on top of that foundation.

The challenge was bigger than designing a set of financial screens. We needed to create an experience flexible enough to adapt to different brands and use cases, while making complex financial actions — onboarding, identity verification, funding, payments and money movement — feel simple and trustworthy to everyday users.

The challenge

One financial infrastructure. Very different customer experiences. Paysafe already had the technology required to power digital wallets. The product challenge was turning that infrastructure into something that could work across different partners, brands and markets without designing a completely new wallet every time.

At the same time, the consumer experience needed to remain simple. Users don’t think about payment infrastructure, compliance systems, identity providers or transaction rules.

They think:

  • Can I create an account?

  • Can I trust this product?

  • Can I get money into it?

  • Can I send or spend my money?

Our job was to absorb as much of the underlying complexity as possible without hiding information users genuinely needed to make informed financial decisions.

My responsibility

My role extended beyond designing individual flows. I worked across the product to help define:

  • the experience architecture of the wallet;

  • how partners could customize the product without breaking its usability;

  • how new users entered and understood the product;

  • how identity and regulatory requirements were introduced;

  • how core money movement experiences worked;

  • how reusable patterns could scale across future wallet implementations;

  • and how user feedback translated back into product decisions.

The central design question became:

How do we create one scalable financial product without making every wallet feel like the same generic product?

Turning a wallet into a platform

Designing for reuse instead of designing one product at a time. A traditional wallet can be optimized around one brand. A white-label wallet has a very different problem. Its interface needs to accommodate multiple identities while protecting the usability and accessibility of the underlying product.

A partner may arrive with:

  • a strong primary color;

  • a secondary brand color;

  • a logo with unusual proportions;

  • different customer expectations;

  • different product capabilities;

  • different market requirements.

Allowing every partner unrestricted control would make the experience inconsistent and difficult to maintain. Allowing almost no control would make the product commercially unattractive. The solution had to balance both. Controlled flexibility. The goal was not to give partners unlimited customization. It was to give them enough control to make the wallet feel like their product while keeping the experience coherent, usable and scalable.

Defining the customization model

Instead of asking partners to design their own wallet, we reduced configuration to a small number of high-impact decisions.

1. Add your brand

Upload the company identity.

2. Define the visual language

Choose primary and supporting brand colors.

3. Experience the wallet

Preview those decisions inside a realistic product.

This made configuration easier to understand while protecting the product from arbitrary customization. The principle was simple:

Give partners just enough control to make the wallet theirs while keeping the product system intact.
